Without doubt, Tartini string quartet named after famous Piran composer, is a representative Slovenian chamber cast, the ambassador of Slovenian culture on home and foreign concert stages.
After two decades of artistic activity, the Tartini String Quartet has gained a prominent position among the Slovenian chamber musicians . At first they performed as the Slovene Philharmonia String Quartet. In 1990 they took name of the famous Piran fiddler, Tartini.The high performing level is garanteed by its cast itself. Members of the quartet are excellent musicians, acquainted soloists and pedagogues who devote their brilliant techniques and mastery to the noble chamber ensemble the String Quartet. The Tartini String Quarter has in its long performing carrier over the last two decades succeeded to create a convincing and fresh artistic approach with its programme choices and especialy with the cycle of concerts entitled Evenings of Chamber Music. The artists wiselly supplement their "iron repertoire" with an artistic opus of less known artists. In addition the Tartini String Quartet also performs the works from Slovenian Chamber Music literature. With excellent interpretations they are unvelling domestic music composers inviting them to create new pieces for chamber string quartets. With special attention the Tartini String Quartet invites well-known musicians from Slovenia and abroad. In this way its concert repertoire becomes original and at the same time it proves that Tartini String Quartet functions as a flexible and adaptable chamber ensemble. Tartini String Quartet collaborated with famous artists including Irena Grafenauer, Stanko Arnold, Radovan Vlatković, Gary Karr, Maria Graf, Franco Gulli, Mate Bekavac, Bruno Giuranna and others. The high artistic ranking of the Quartet has been confirmed by performances on the concert stages of important musical centres such as Barcelona, Venezia, Buenos Airies, Vienna, Geneve, Prag, Paris, Salzburg, Milan, Munchen, Torino etc…In addition to live performances the Tartini String Quartet has recorded for numerous radio and televison houses at home and abroad. There is no doubt that Tartini String Quartet is a representable Slovenian Chamber Ensemble and an ambassador of Slovenian culture on domestic and international stages.
